Global is a full-service agency with authority for underwriting and claims delegated to Global by its participating Pool members.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Financial Controller, Canada, we are looking for a strong analytical professional to support our Finance and Underwriting teams. In this position, the incumbent will be responsible to manage all accounts receivable functions, with other duties as required. This is not a system-driven role and will rely heavily on the skill strength of the incumbent who will be
expected to maintain accurate record keeping and process controls. The expected compensation for this position falls within 70-73K annually. Compensation is determined based on a combination of skills, and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payment Processing: Manage receipt of incoming broker payments, including cheques and electronic transfers, ensuring accurate matching and recording within the accounting systems.
- Account Analysis: Regularly reconcile broker accounts to ensure all payments are accounted for and any discrepancies are resolved. Ensure that any broker refunds are prepared and submitted for payment in a timely manner.
- Collections Management: Issue and monitor aging reports to identify any overdue accounts, implement collection strategies and actively follow up with Brokers and internal parties to settle outstanding balances.
- Credit Risk Assessment: Evaluate any potential outstanding accounts to be flagged for bad debt, based on internal procedures.
- Broker Communication: Maintaining strong relationships with our brokers is essential. Respond to inquiries, resolve disputes and ensure clear communication by email or phone in a timely manner.
- Reporting and Compliance: Prepare and present AR metrics to management on a bi-monthly basis to discuss the status of broker accounts and ensure compliance with internal controls and policies to assist and support audits as needed.
- Process Improvements & modernizations: Identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements by leveraging automation tools to streamline workflows, improve accuracy and enhance reporting capabilities where possible.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Requirement of (2-3) years experience in a similar role or accounting position
- High proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and accounting software
- Strong analytical skills with large volumes of data and a high attention to detail
- Effective organizational skills to manage multiple accounts and transactions
- Knowledge of accepted accounting principles
- Excellent communication and administration skills with a strong customer service focused mindset
