This position is responsible for the adjustment and settlement of first- and third-party bodily injury and property damage claims and lawsuits, set up and maintain claim files, evaluate liability and damages issues, negotiate settlements with insureds and third-party claimants, prepare outgoing correspondence, prepare claim payments, evaluate and prepare recommendations on claim subrogation. Further duties and responsibilities are listed below:
- Manage assigned bodily injury and property damage claim files, including evaluation of claims, evaluation of coverages, establish reserves, and negotiation/settlement of claims
- Manage outside legal counsel on claims requiring litigation
- Efficiently resolve complex, severe exposure claims, using high-service oriented file handling
- Investigate, evaluate and settle claims, applying technical knowledge and human relations skills to effect fair and prompt resolution of cases in effective and efficient manner
- Manage, analyze and respond to incoming claim documentation
- Ensure timely and accurate entry of new claims into financial and claims management systems
- Review invoices and other billings for appropriateness and authorize for payment within authority
- Investigate claims, including obtaining witness statements, investigating reasonableness of claim, surveying loss or retaining appropriate external investigation resources
- Use variety of tools, including internet, to research and complete projects as assigned
- Professionally and timely communicate with insureds and claimants to assemble required claim documentation
- Present assigned claims at claims reviews to insureds, brokers, and insurers
- Domestic and International travel from 20% to 30% is required.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree is required
Skills/Experience:
- Property and Casualty Claims experience is preferred
- High level of expertise in negotiating and influencing outcomes
- High level of problem-solving aptitude
- Strong customer focus and ability to identify and respond to customer needs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to analyze problems/situations in terms of long-range goals and recommend a course of action
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment with supervised direction
Preferred:
- Aviation experience
- Insurance adjuster licenses
- Juris Doctor degree may be helpful but is not required
