Position: Policy Wordings Specialist

Reports to: Manager, Policy Wordings

Job Purpose: To support the delivery of an efficient and respected policy wordings service commensurate with Global Aerospace’s leading position in the London and European aviation insurance markets.

 

The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Policy Wordings, the successful candidate will support the wordings function for Global Aerospace Underwriting Managers, which is a highly valued and critical function and serves as a leading differentiator from competitors.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide technical expertise across all our aviation lines of business, focussing on policies underwritten in our London head office.. The role also involves collaborating with our wordings teams in Europe and the USA when appropriate.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide technical support and advice to Underwriters, Claims Adjustors, the Legal Department and Brokers.
• Review slip documents and produce electronic reports highlighting issues for consideration by Underwriters and management.
• Review policy wordings and assist in the negotiation of wording revisions with brokers.
• Assist in the production and on-going review of Global’s own wordings and clauses.
• Develop market network to obtain knowledge of market trends and developments and advise management and colleagues as appropriate.
• Collaborate across the group and act as an effective ambassador for Global Aerospace.

Candidate Profile

The Policy Analyst must have strong technical skills and be able to communicate complex issues clearly, whilst understanding the commercial decisions being undertaken by our underwriting teams.

In terms of the personal competencies required for the position, we would highlight the following:

Preferred Education Level:

• Graduate at degree level.
• Insurance qualification or progression towards (Dip CII/ACII).

Experience:

• An excellent understanding of insurance policy wordings.
• Aviation insurance experience would be an advantage, but not essential.
• An understanding of insurance business processes and procedures.
