Brexit: Handling of EAA policies
Following the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union and the end of the transition period on 31 December 2020, Global Aerospace Underwriting Managers Limited (“GAUM UK”) has directed its wholly owned subsidiary Global Aerospace Underwriting Managers (Europe) (“GAUM Europe”), a company incorporated in France, to carry out the mediation of policies that GAUM UK transacted before 1 January 2021 in the European Economic Area (the “GAUM UK EEA Policies”) in order to ensure an orderly and compliant run-off of the GAUM UK EEA Policies.
We would emphasise that we do not expect this to have any material impact on policyholders of GAUM UK EEA Policies as:
- the security of our pool member companies remains unchanged; and
- the personnel who would otherwise handle the mediation of policies for GAUM UK will handle the servicing and run-off of the GAUM UK EEA Policies, but perform their duties in connection with the GAUM UK EEA Policies on behalf of GAUM Europe, rather than GAUM UK.
